Phonak hearing aids are equipped with SWORD chip which is developed and proprietary 2.4 GHz chip which is well suited and integrated on any Phonak platform especially Audeo B- Direct resulting in seamless connectivity solution. SWORD is an abbreviation for ‘Sonova Wireless One Radio Digital’. This innovative chip offers both Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity in “classic” mode, and ear-to-ear wireless connectivity between a pair of hearing aids. SWORD is also compatible with AirStream technology, allowing plug-and-play link for first-class TV streaming. SWORD is visualized as the technology platform for the subsequent Phonak hearing aids models.
It provides common platform for connecting any mobile phone device irrespective of make or brand or even operating system, Phonak B direct hearing aid technology works similarly as Bluetooth wireless headset i.e. true hands-free operation. The hearing aids enabled with this technology make use of its integrated microphones to acquaint and catch the user’s speech for attending the phone calls.
